Are Those Microblading Before & Afters on Instagram Even Real?

I have to admit, something has been bothering me lately.

I am seeing more and more microblading “before and afters” on Instagram that quite honestly look too perfect to be real. The skin is flawless, every hair stroke is identical, the brows are perfectly symmetrical and the finished result looks almost like it has been drawn onto the face digitally.

And with AI now being able to create incredibly realistic photographs, I think we all need to become a little more careful about what we believe we are looking at online.

The problem is that microblading isn’t something that happens on a computer. It happens on real people, with real skin.

Real skin has pores. It has texture. It can be oily, dry, thin, mature, scarred or affected by previous treatments. Real brows aren’t perfectly symmetrical either. And real microblading needs to take all of those things into account.

This is something I feel particularly strongly about because I have spent many years fixing microblading that has gone wrong for people elsewhere. I have seen clients come to me with brows that have been made too dark, too solid, badly shaped or simply nothing like the natural brows they were hoping for.

Sadly, by the time they reach me, the problem isn’t always something that can simply be “fixed” with more microblading.

This is why I would really encourage you not to choose your microblading artist based on one beautiful photograph on Instagram.

Look at their work across lots of different clients. Look for healed results. And please, read their reviews.

If you are considering coming to LondonBrowClinic, I would genuinely encourage you to read mine. Don’t just take my word for the fact that I care about natural-looking, beautifully considered brows. See what my clients have actually said about their experience.

After more than 11 years specialising exclusively in microblading, I have learned that the most impressive result isn’t necessarily the darkest, sharpest or most “perfect” brow you see on Instagram.

It is the brow that looks like it belongs to the person wearing it.

So before you book because you’ve fallen in love with an Instagram before and after, take a little time to look behind the photograph.

Make sure you are looking at real people, real skin and real work.

Your eyebrows are going to be on your face for a very long time. They deserve a little more research than a scroll through Instagram.

Call me if you want to chat about this or book a consultation with me.
